The MOTOTRBO SL2600 shares many features of it’s SL1600 stable mate, there are three main features that separates it from the SL1600, the SL2600 is designed with a virtual front keypad giving two programmable buttons, the unit has a OLED display; these two features gives users quick access to key radio functions along with information at a glance. The ability to see and use a contact list now opens many more features (radio check, full paging, incoming emergency calling where you can see the callers ID and alias in full). Another key feature to separate the two slimline models is the SL2600 now has Bluetooth, indoor/outdoor beacons can now be utilised for location services (needs a license key upgrade).
Measuring only 22mm thick, the SL2600 is ultra-portable. A stubby antenna (both VHF and UHF), curved edges and rugged frame make the SL2600 the perfect work partner. It can be easily carried in pockets or bags without snagging or bulging.
The SL2600 looks less and less like a traditional radio with no rotary ON/OFF volume control, making way for a push button style user interface. The prominent push-to-talk button, and top toggle channel switch to enable quick one-hand access (great for gloved users). Channel “fast toggle” allows users to scroll through 10 channels at a time.
The new virtual keypad simulates the feel and responsiveness of a physical keypad, allowing you to customize the buttons to vibrate, sound a tone, or stay silent. And its two-line OLED display gives you important information at a glance, including battery life, signal strength, current channel, and scrolling messages.
The SL2600 along with the more featured e series features Range Max technology: an advanced radio design and patented antenna which delivers enhanced range while maintaining a slim profile and long battery life.
The SL2600 also is an entry level systems handportable, IP Site Connect (IPSC) is standard with Capacity Plus needing a license upgrade. The unit also supports analogue 5 tone SELCAL.
The SL2600 is IP54 rated; for dust and water resistance, it can be used even in harsh environments. This radio can survive many drops and tumbles. It has also been proven tough in Motorola’s gruelling Accelerated Life Test.
Get all the benefits of digital, including better voice quality, better range and better battery life – but retain compatibility with your existing radio fleet while giving yourself the freedom to migrate to the latest technology at your own pace.

The SL2600 has an option for Bluetooth services which when coupled with ibeacons (indoor or outdoor) and addition software, this provide the basis for radio/asset tracking (not GPS).
The use of a 2 line OLED display enables the user to navigate a contact list (private calling, paging etc), to be able to view current calling contact aliases and generally facilitates a better user experience. What we think
Jason from the Service Team: “ The SL2600 is a new later model to the already great SL1600, consider the SL2600 as its big brother, the OLED display and virtual front keypad work well and increase the role and function for this radio model.
The ability to have a selectable contact list along with a 12 character aliases makes this slim line radio excellent for receiving emergency calling, paging and radio checks are a dream along with private one to one calling call.
Negatives? not anything worth writing about, if I was picky an improved IP rating would be great. Love this unit and with Bluetooth location services now possible for indoor (and outdoor) tracking I can see this unit being very popular in the coming 24 months.”
